All About Pearls

Posted by -edz- on 11:17 PM
Today, my friend texted me asking for a suggestion of a perfect gift for his mother. What perfect gift could you give to someone who has almost everything? Doesn’t every women love jewelry and most especially pearl jewelry? I immediately replied to my friend and told him about this website I occasionally visit. It is called Pearl Necklace Center and they sell genuine Japanese Akoya and freshwater pearl jewelries. They start at an affordable price of $24.99, but do you know what’s best about it? They have free shipping anywhere in the world! Tell me where else can one find such a great deal. All the pearls they use are personally hand-picked and knotted to maintain high quality that is incomparable.

They have an exquisite supply of classic pearl earrings with unmatched superiority - one that I’ve never seen in other stores. They have a selection of colors to choose from, ranging from 14K gold with white, pink, lavender, grey, and black pearls. Their most popular necklaces have pink, white, grey, and purple pearls with 14K gold and sizes between 8.0 and 9.0 mm. They also have a large variety of pearl bracelets with various sizes and colors. One of my favorites, for example, is the 7 inch freshwater white pearl bracelet with 14K gold beads.

The company is very committed in bringing the best quality pearls and satisfaction to their clients. They accept payments through Paypal and all types of credit cards, therefore, transactions are always fast and easy. With fast shipment, excellent customer service, affordable prices, and quality products – one can never go wrong with gift giving this holiday season.

After recommending this website to my friend, he decided to buy his mom the best Christmas gift ever, a necklace from Pearl Necklace Center. This actually gave me the idea of buying my own mother a set of pearl jewelry for the holidays. Well, I might get myself a pair of those pearl earring too. Always remember that nothing beats a classic set of pearl jewelries that last a lifetime. While the thought lasts forever.

H1N1 Vaccine

Posted by -edz- on 11:16 AM in

Hi everyone!
I already got my H1N1 vaccine last Wednesday. I got my siblings their shots as well. What about you? If you haven't gone to get yours, well, act quickly now. You don't want it to be too late for you and your family. This type of flu spreads rapidly and the symptoms may be misleading because the manifestations are similar to other milder types of flu or infections. So, make room for it on your schedules. It only takes less than a minute to get the shots or the flu mists. You never know when they're gonna run out of supplies so hurry while you can. In the meantime, bear in mind the best preventive measure to any type of infection - wash your hands. If you can, carry around hand sanitizers because you never know when you're gonna need it.

Pink-Slip Capitals in the U.S.

Posted by -edz- on 10:44 PM
There was a sad article today featured on Yahoo's homepage. They titled it "America's Pink-Slip Capitals." Now, if none of you has ever received a pink-slip before then good for you. For those who are not aware as to what this pink-slip means let me give you a hint that simply means - you're fired! Fired because you did something stupid while on the clock, fired because you've been late for the nth time in a year, fired because you're a lousy worker, or just fired because your company is laying off thousands of workers due to this current recession.

This is a global truth. Most businesses during this time of the year aren't doing so good. In fact a few have already filed for bankruptcy, closed, or slipping to that direction. The end results are what we witness around us; more houses foreclosed, debts gone unpaid, people unemployed, and more children not finishing school. In fact the unemployment rates in one of the most powerful countries has soared to probably it's highest record ever. (or will be soon if no solution is implemented) According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, during the first quarter of this year about 3,489 mass layoffs happened leaving 559,000 people jobless.

The picture is worsening and no clear solution is in sight. Even if some of us still have jobs, we can and will still feel the effects of this slowing economy and rising unemployment rates. We all live in one world and every single second, each deed of a single person affects our lives one way or another.

So today, Yahoo! Real Estate gave out the top 5 cities in the country that are greatly affected by the ongoing mass layoffs. The top 5 pink-slip capitals.

1. Detroit, Mich.
Mass Layoffs: 57
Workers Affected: 14,781

2. Chicago, Ill.
Mass Layoffs: 87
Workers Affected: 13,647

3. Los Angeles, Calif.
Mass Layoffs: 100
Workers Affected: 10,594

4. New York, N.Y.
Mass Layoffs: 61
Workers Affected: 8,688

5. Las Vegas, Nev.
Mass Layoffs: 55
Workers Affected: 8,367

Yes, unfortunately, my own city is part of the list.
I just hope and pray that the economy will start to pick up again then we can all raise our heads and say we made it through the crisis as one country.

Kiss Me Through The Phone

Posted by -edz- on 6:39 PM

Okay, not me alright?!

My brother and his band had a practice this afternoon. At one point, his friend was listening to Soulja Boy's "Kiss Me Through the Phone" but even before the song ended this other friend stopped it. He then blurted out, "I don't like this song. How can you kiss someone through the phone?!?!"

Lol. Middle schoolers.

May - A New Beginning

Posted by -edz- on 10:19 PM
Another month is here! April is history!
By the way, how did this month start for all of you? Mine.. is so so.

As you can tell I've been away from the blogging scene for quite some time... again. Yeah, I always disappear from time to time. It's to make like exciting.
A lot has happened within the past few weeks; finals in school, met old friends from other states, help people, planned, failed, succeeded, etc. To sum it all up: a lot!

However, I am excited though. Well, actually more like filled with mixed emotions. Why? Because I am starting a new chapter in my life pretty soon. A more serious chapter as I may say. Call it the "bridge over troubled water" phase of my life. This is gonna be quite a long and bumpy journey but, as much as I am scared, I am looking forward to it. I take it as a blessing from God and I welcome every trials with open arms because I know He won't give it to me if He knows I can't overcome it. Plus, what is there to worry if God is always by your side. (Right Bro?)

Now, I have learned to enjoy and be grateful for whatever I currently have and do not. There is a reason for everything, right? So to all of you, live life one day at a time yet remember to make the most out of every moment! Cause we only live this life once - so do it right.
Quick note: learn to read the omens, they will lead you to your Personal Legend. **wink**

Today I want to share a very special video with you guys. It is a video my best friend showed me, if I'm not mistaken, perhaps about a year ago. Since then it has become a personal favorite. I tried to share it to as many people as possible. Then I realized that's not enough and i won't be able to reach out to others that I don't talk to often. So I'm posting the video here so you can also see and take part in its' heart-warming message. I hope you'll help spread this call by sharing it to everyone.

Why?

Posted by -edz- on 12:22 AM
As we all know last sunday was Easter Sunday. To some people this marks the end of the lent season. A time when Jesus Christ was resurrected. It serves as a reminder to all of us that God loves us so much that He sacrificed the life of His only begotten son to save us from our sins and give us salvation. However, to most kids that day meant one thing, one really important activity - Easter Egg Hunting! That seems like a pretty fun and exciting thing to do huh..? You hunt for colored or painted eggs then all of a sudden there's either candies or cash inside. I wish they have adult versions of Egg Hunting and each egg hides a minimum of a thousand dollars. Boy that would be great! So much for stimulus checks.

Anyhow, I observed one thing that happened last sunday. All of a sudden the churches where packed with people that the streets where flooded with cars. I questioned "Why all of a sudden?" I went to church during Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday but the volume of people was only half or a third of those that came last sunday. My church has two buildings yet only one is use for masses. However, because of the large number of people that went to church just this Easter Sunday, the community had to hold 2 separate masses in those two buildings.

I wondered why most of us (yes, as a human, I do not exclude myself) only want to be a part of Jesus' resurrection and not during the times when He was suffering. We celebrate His resurrection with Him but hide away when He was in pain because of us. Where were all these people during those times that all of a sudden they popped up on Easter Sunday? Why?

Happy Easter Everyone!

Posted by -edz- on 6:00 PM

Just a short entry to extend my Easter greetings to everyone. Here is a simple yet wonderful quote I received from my best friend last week. Just wanted to share its message with everyone.

"The poorest person in the world is not the one with a single coin in his hand... but the one without JESUS in his live."

Have fun with your Easter egg hunting! I hope you enjoy the parties without forgetting why we celebrate this religious event.

When I Visited My Doctor

Posted by -edz- on 5:36 PM
Today I went to meet my new primary physician for a regular check-up (and because I needed to, a requirement for something). Anyhow, while the physician was listening to my heartbeat and lungs, she noticed some heart murmurs. She asked if my previous physician ever noticed heart murmurs before then I told her no. FYI: Heart murmurs can be harmless or abnormal. Some heart murmurs can occur for a lifetime and post no harm to the individual while pathologic murmurs indicate problems such as narrowing or leaking of the valves. Hearing the latter suggests further tests and examinations.

Nothing to worry guys. I'm young and healthy. My physician said it could just be because I may not have had enough water that morning and I'm dehydrated which causes my heart to sound like that. So to be sure I had an EKG done and if something seems abnormal then she might call me next week to order an ultrasound of my heart. But I'm feeling perfectly fine so I have no worries or whatsoever.

Anyway, that is really not the purpose of this entry. I read an article a couple of days ago about a survey done by a prestigious university and the study concluded that "80 % of patients" who leave the doctor's office do not have a full or complete understanding of their condition and diagnosis. I know I do not have the direct source with me but you can quote me on that. I was shocked myself to know such a large percentage of people go in for check ups or follows up and leave without fully grasping the knowledge necessary for them to deal with their conditions.

Now what happened? It could be that the doctors failed to fully explain their diagnosis and the treatments because the patients are not asking further questions which leads the physicians to assume that the patients understand what really is happening and how to manage their conditions. So what should be done? According to the study, physicians should not only explain what the patients' conditions are but must thoroughly explain what and how the treatments or medications work. They should also include what foods and activities to do and avoid in order to restore optimum health. As for the patients, they should not just say "yes doctor" all the time, instead, they should ask questions after questions as to what should be done and why such affects their health. This type of understanding between patients and physicians should be achieved.

So the next time you go in for a check up: Do not hesitate to ask.

Las Vegas Earth Hour 2009

Posted by -edz- on 5:34 PM
Before the month of March ended, I invited all of you to take part in joining the world for Earth Hour 2009 by turning off your lights for 60 minutes. So did you? I did. Well, somehow. My family and I turned off all the lights and watched a movie in one room. (It even lasted for more than an hour. Walah!)

The whole Las Vegas Strip also did its part. We do know how much electricity this little city consumes each day because of its casinos and parties and what not. So I'm glad it joined in the Earth Hour campaign this year and stick to what it promised. Below are pictures and video of the same 60 minutes of lights out.

Bad News - Immediate Blog Shutdown

Posted by -edz- on 5:28 PM
Hi everyone. As much as I am excited to share with you my page's new look and possible potentials, I have bad news. I have recently received an email informing me that my blog will be shutdown soon due to copyright infringement issues. I was really saddened and taken by surprise with this news. I still do not know how to react. However, I have to accept the fate of this almost 3 year old blog. Its journey is only up to here and it is time to move on to greater things.

BUT WAIT!!!!! Something important!!!

I just remember one thing. The month of March ended yesterday so that means today is the start of a brand new month. Today is already the first of April. Wow. Time does fly by so fast. And what does the first of April mean? APRIL FOOL'S DAY! Yeah, so good news for me since my blog is not going to be shutdown and never will be!!!! That's bad news for you since you have to continue reading and enduring my blog. Haha!

Love you all! And thanks for dropping by! Keep on reading and as I always tell my fellow bloggers - "Happy Blogging!"

Plans For Blog

Posted by -edz- on 12:19 AM
Hi everyone. How's it going?

Okay it's late and I shouldn't be blogging considering the amount of pending works I need to do. But I'm excited for I came across some ideas today. Anyway, just so you know, I am planning to do some changes in my blog for the next couple of weeks. Are they major ones? I'm not really sure yet. No definite plans but I'm working on that. If some of you may remember, in the past i already made the attempt of changing my beloved blog but I failed. I was so paranoid of loosing all the contents that I stopped and, in fact, had to re-add some of the links in my blog roll. So if all of a sudden your site's link is no longer in my list just let me know.
Don't wonder if some widgets or add on's might become missing all of a sudden. Hopefully this time i won't make the same mistake again. I might need your help though. Anyone willing to edit my blog for me? SOS! *smiles*

Well, I might try to see what I can do (by myself) perhaps this time I might actually succeed but if I fail again (crossed fingers) then.. I might break down and you won't see me blogging for the next year or so. Hopefully it's the former. I might have to dig out the "Tech geek" in me. Alright, as I always say "Happy blogging!" Hopefully my thinking cap will work this time.

Earth Hour 2009

Posted by -edz- on 1:44 AM
Turn off. Turn out. Take action and participate.

Now I’m sure a lot of you are aware of what Earth Hour is. If not, then where have you been these past 2 years? Anyway, Earth Hour is basically a global call to take action on Global Warming. This year, Earth Hour 2009 aims to reach more people and cities to take part and take responsibility in working toward a sustainable future. Currently, the campaign has spread to 3,900 cities in 84 countries. Today 300 cities and towns in 43 states and the District of Columbia will turn off their lights for an hour. Even the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign, a world famous landmark, and many of the Las Vegas Strip properties will be turned off in cooperation to Earth Hour. There will be new global icons participating as well this year namely the European Union Headquarters in Brussels, St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, and the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing.

So what are you waiting for? Get ready and be part of the action. Earth Hour will take place at 8:30 to 9:30 pm at your local times. Before the lights turn out, plan activities that you can enjoy by yourself or with friends and families. Why not create a candlelight dinner or go outside and stargaze. There are endless activities you can do. Just try not to trip over something and hurt yourself or someone else.

I wonder if Google's turning its' lights off this year.

Lost and Found

Posted by -edz- on 10:57 AM
Here's a comic strip I found off the internet just today. I found it both funny and realistic. Indeed, a lot of us out there are feeling the same feeling of lost as this little boy. Unfortunately, current times have caused us to loose the essential values in our lives. However, although they may not be tangible, they can still be found. We just have to know where to find and nurture them.

So just double click on the strip to enlarge it and read the prints.

On Moving On

Posted by -edz- on 9:28 AM

"Giving up something doesn't mean you're weak, instead, it makes you strong to let go of something important to you. 'Cause love is not what makes you complete it's when you learn to be unselfish."

"The real purpose of love is not getting what we want but unselfishly giving what we have. We don't put a price on the love that we give because we should give it unselfishly without compensation. We don't love someone because of what he/she is, but because of who we are when we are with him/her. Love should not just be about receiving, it should be about loving and just loving because it makes us happy."

The Perfect Time

Posted by -edz- on 2:17 AM
As I stare into the night
I try to free my mind of worries and pain
A drape of comfort and warmth soothes my senses
As I recall your warm embrace

The loneliness of darkness seem deafening
But the thought of you plays music to my ears
And as I sing along the melody
I hear your voice hum the harmony

I feel trapped in my world of ambitions and security
Each day the more I yearn for your company
Romeo and Juliet they say our romance is
But theirs’ is a story cut short too soon

Each time I take one step forward
I make two steps back
Soon after I smile
I fear for a while

Sometimes I fear to close my eyes
I just wanna drown in your eyes forever
If sleeping tonight means starting tomorrow without you
I’d rather stay awake all my life

But like a caterpillar that transforms into a butterfly
And a rose that blooms in spring
Each creature has its own perfect time
And each fairytale has its ‘once upon a time’

There is always a rainbow after every rain
There is happiness waiting behind all this pain
What I ask is for you to hold on and be strong
Maybe only then can we find that ‘happily ever after’

For now I will let this love be free
If it is right, it will find its way back to where it was meant to be
And that is here with you and me
