Have you done your part?

Posted by -edz- on 1:15 PM in , , ,
I’ve been so busy for the past couple of weeks that I haven’t checked out the latest news about the Philippines (even here in the U.S.). Today I heard from my mother that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo made her SONA (State Of the Nation Address). And of course the usual reaction from the Filipinos – rallies and oppositions. Since I was younger I always thought that all these rallies and oppositions all add up to the chaos that is already present in the country. I think that by doing so, the people are only making the situations worse.

Here’s what I think:

  1. Why put all the blame to Pres.GMA? I am not a big follower of the president not because I dislike her or what but because I am not a big Politics person. (You know what I mean.) I have faith in government and democracy but what made me lose faith in the system is the quality of people, in general, governing the nation.
  2. Where are the other officials elected to run the country? The senators? Congressmen? Governors? Mayors? And other representatives? They should take responsibilities for all their actions. They are all partly to be blamed for whatever it is that’s happening in the Philippines right now. Chaos? Disunity? The reason why the citizens behave in such manner is because their own leaders don’t have one voice. One group doesn’t believe in President Arroyo so they don’t show up during the SONA? What kind of leaders are they when they can’t even show some amount of respect to the country’s president? How can these leaders lead their citizens and bring some amount of hope and progress to the nation when they can’t even teach themselves some morals? Citizens, don’t put all the blame on the President, what are your locally elected officials doing to help you?
  3. Enough about the officials, now it’s your turn. What are you doing for your country? As former U.S. President John F. Kennedy said,“ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” So to those citizens who keep on complaining about their sufferings and the worsening economy of the Philippines, let me ask you – What have you done to help improve the state of your country? I guess nothing. Other than whining, complaining, and constantly putting the blame on other people – nothing. No wonder the country, as you said it, keeps on sinking further to the bottom. Stop complaining and do something!
The country, just like any other relationships, is a partnership between the people and their officials. Without cooperation the Philippines will definitely sink. There is still great hope for the country. If we all pause, look at the person beside us, and help each other stand up – we can all make it! We were once a nation who conquered the universe, we can still do it now. All we have to do is open our minds, listen to the other party, and unite. How difficult can that be? We made it before; therefore, we can do it again.

The Dark Knight

Posted by -edz- on 10:23 PM in ,
There were a couple of great movies out last week so guess what I did? Went to the movies of course! And what movie set the record last weekend? Of course! There’s no other than – “The Dark Knight.” This movie created a big buzz months before it was released, I guess one obvious reason is the death of Heath Ledger who is playing the notorious Joker.

What can I say about the movie? Well, it was fantastic! (Either that or I just have a really poor taste when it comes to movies.) Why did I say that? Well, a lot of new aspects were added that helped make more sense out of the film and the Batman story as well. Each background music were set at exactly the right timing to prepare the audience and squeeze from them the right emotions needed to fully immerse themselves in the film. I think the plot was very well planned. One would think that the story ends as soon as the villain was captured but no. Every scene was something to look forward to. You really have to hold your breath until the end of the film. The visual effect was amazing too. Technology has indeed created a new and exciting world. All the actors did an amazing job in their acting as well. (No wonder there is a big buzz of Heath Ledger possibly winning an Oscars for his acting in the said film.) There are a lot of other good things in the movie but you just have to find it out for yourself. A number of memorable mind boggling lines are worth figuring out. Just remember that the film is literally not based on the concepts of DC comics. It is more than that. There are a couple of underlying themes that you have to uncover for yourself.

Some critics said this batman movie is quite a dark film. Perhaps it is. But one thing's for sure - “The Dark Knight” is a great and interesting film that is worth the watch.

Oh by the way, Christian Bale is pretty hot for a Batman who's claustrophobic.

I'm Back!!! Latest Update

Posted by -edz- on 9:35 AM in ,

Hello my co-bloggers and other visitors. Sorry to keep you waiting for updates, links, and other feedbacks. I just got preoccupied with the other aspect of my life. (As if!)

As most of you might have read in my previous posts, I recently started a new job and I love it. Although not every part of it but in general I’m getting used to the hang of it. I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing there for the past 2 weeks and so far I’ve been excelling. Just the other day they gave me the option to grab a free pizza or ice cream for a job well done with our customers/members. They are proud of me since I’m still a newbie and I’m already working way ahead of my game. Woohoo! Of course I’m not stopping anytime soon.

Another reason why I love my new job is because of the number of people I’ve met and mingled with for the past couple of weeks. I used to always be an introvert and a shy lady until a couple years ago when I realized I needed to break that shell and protective circle. I am so grateful that I am doing great with both school and work. Of course, my family is great too. They have always been so supportive.

Of course though I have not posted any updates for the past couple of weeks, it doesn’t mean I’ve been forgetting and neglecting this blog. I very much appreciate the comments and messages you guys left on the chatbox and on my previous entries. Really guys, I really appreciate them.

As soon as I get my schedule fix, I will arrange the links on the side and add the addresses of the bloggers who recently added me on their links. Don’t worry, I didn’t forget you and I know who you guys are. Thanks my co-bloggers! I love you all! And as I always say, HAPPY BLOGGING!

A 16-year old teenager from Georgia was arrested and charged last week for bouncing a baby off an inflatable pillow. And how was this crime revealed? Well, through YouTube. This teenager along with a friend videotaped the incident and posted the terribly shocking video on the famous video hosting site.
Please watch the video below for more details about the incident.

Note:
This is why you shouldn't just trust anybody with your child.

I Made My Sister Cry

Posted by -edz- on 10:05 PM in , ,
Well, sorry I didn't really make her cry. I'm not that witch type of sister that people usually see on TV. Here is what happened:

I woke up early today to join my job orientation. Just when you think that would be a really exciting activity, I was there for 10 hours!!! Yes, 10 HOURS of orientation!!! How exhausting can that get, right? Good thing they pay us for the hours that we were there or my companions and I would have rallied and protested. So after a really exhausting day I had to spend a couple more minutes with errands before finally driving back home. Of course my loving family didn't eat dinner yet because they were waiting for me. I dozed off for a bit while waiting for my siblings to finish setting the table. During dinner my sister asked me if I have work during Saturdays and Sundays and I said yes. And she got sad because she thinks I have been so busy lately that we had very little time to talk to each other. My mom said I could come with them to the movies this Saturday since I will get of work early. But I refused to. As much as I love movies, I have to study for the two exams I have for Monday. Then tears fell on my sister's cheeks as she said that she's okay since she once got used to the life of not being with me. And I saw my mom's frustration as she dropped her head when she knew I can't go with them again.

Just so you know, last Saturday, they all went out for movies from 1 in the afternoon until 10 in the evening. It was part of our father's day weekend but I did not go with them.

To my family:
Although I don't really need to work while attending school, I want to. I want to help the family by supporting and financing my own education and other expenses. It's okay, I know I have been away for 5 years since I was 12 (until 2 years ago when we moved together). You didn't see me grow and fight for the values you have instilled in me when I was little. I don't want to say "you'll get use to it like you once did" and I won't. Just remember that all I'm doing is for you. It is not really my responsibility but that's how much I love you. You don't have to ask for me to give.

Where Have I Been?

Posted by -edz- on 10:44 PM in , ,
1. I am taking summer classes to speed up my major.
2. I got my official driver’s license a couple of weeks ago (no longer a permit). Hence, I now hold the responsibility of driving myself to school, to work, and to wherever else I need to go to. That's an additional responsibility that eats up my time. I spend about 30 minutes driving from home to school and another 30 minutes back. That does not include the drive to and from work yet.
3. Before getting my license, I used to make my dad my personal driver. Now that I got my license, my siblings are making me their personal driver.
4. I have a new part time job, thus, that's another 24 hours of my week (minimum).
5. The past two weeks was spent preparing requirements for my new job. (Hassle, really!)
6. I still review my sister for her upcoming Math proficiency exam and my youngest brother with his daily homework. So, daily, when I get home I am not greeted with “rest” just yet but with more tasks. (That’s what I get for being the eldest.)
7. From time to time my other brother still bugs me to teach him how to play guitar. And every time he asks I give him the same responses – "I am busy", "I have an exam to study for," or "I'm writing an essay/research paper." (I guess he just has to wait ‘till I graduate. Haha!)
8. The top two questions people ask me all the time are "How are you?" and "How is your love life?" Here are my answers to that, which by the way are the same 99 % of the time: "I am okay, thank you for asking" and "I am too busy for that."
9. I have exams, quizzes, and practicals every day! Talk about the pleasures of summer school.
10. Writing all the updates above makes my mind go crazy.
11. As I am writing this I am memorizing stuff for my test which is in an hour from now.
12. I now have two blogs, both of which I struggle to maintain since I am too busy with my other life. (Do I even have a life?)

So that explain it my co-bloggers as to why I have been absent from the blogging scene for the past couple of weeks. I have been doing so many things with the thinking that I am invincible to sickness. But I was wrong. Even superheroes get tired and sick. Haha.

Edz's react:
So watch out whenever you go to the bank on Fridays.
And you can always use "Abracadabra" when making a little child feel you healed their boo-boo.
